BENCHING AND BENCHING REQUESTS

Benching
  • Cats within a breed will be benched together, and breeds will be placed throughout the show hall alphabetically by breed name. All Persians will be benched as a group under the heading “Persian.” No attempt will be made to bench by division. If you are exhibiting in more than one breed, please specify one breed for benching purposes.
  • Cage sizes: 21" x 22" x 22" for single cage; 21" x 22" x 45" for double cage.
  • Exhibitors with kittens “for sale” must have at least one cat entered in the show for competition. IMPORTANT: Georgia requires anyone who is selling a kitten to obtain a temporary pet dealers license for $50. Call 1- 800-282-5852 and ask for Mr. Ray Deluca in Animal Protection for an application (mail, fax or email). A license can be obtained at the show but penalty fees may apply.
  • This will be a non-vetted show, however, it is strongly advised that all cats/kittens entered or present in the show hall be inoculated before entry, by a licensed veterinarian, against feline enteritis, feline rhinotracheitis and calici viruses and that cats and kittens be tested and found negative for FeLV.
  • ALL claws on each entry must be clipped prior to benching.
  • Any cat or kitten from a house or cattery where there has been feline distemper (panleukopenia) within 21 days prior to the opening date of a show is ineligible for entry, and, should entry have been made prior to the onset of any such condition, such entry is ineligible for admission into the show room. Only cats which appear healthy, without evidence of fleas, ear mites, or any contagious or infectious illness, are eligible for admission into the show room. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to refrain from bringing an unhealthy cat or kitten into the show hall. Failure to observe this rule will be grounds for disciplinary action. Small animals (dogs & cats) entering Georgia are required to have the following - if flying into Georgia from another state a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) is needed within 10 days of movement & proof of current rabies vaccination. If arriving by car from another state a current rabies certificate only.
  • If entering Georgia from another country (International) call CDC (Center for Disease Control) at 404-498-1670 for requirements.Cats needing a health certificate for International travel should contact Karen Thomas, kvet@bellsouth.net, prior to the show to make arrangements NOTE: The USDA office in Atlanta is NOT open on Saturdays. We don't have the show on Friday this year. Therefore, Karen needs to have ALL the cats' information by the **Monday preceeding** the show (November 16) AND credit card payment. (which will be processed through CFA)

    Benching Requests

    • You may request to be benched next to only one other exhibitor within the benching area of your primary breed.
    • If you specify an agent, that will be your only benching request. Furthermore, the agent must be showing the same breed as the cat being agented.
    • Handicapped benching requests will be accommodated whenever possible, at no extra charge to the exhibitor.
