    World Cat CongressCFA to Host the World Cat Congress in Houston, Texas, on March 28-31, 2008 - The annual meeting of the World Cat Congress will be hosted by CFA, and features meetings and seminars on March 28 and 31, and a CFA All Breed Cat Show on March 29-30.

    On Friday 28 March, CFA is hosting a FREE seminar with lunch. The seminars, held at the Hilton Americas, 1600 Lamar, Houston, will start at 10:00am with each of the WCC members introducing their associations. This will be followed by presentations from Dr. Bruce Elsey (litter requirements for cats), Dr. Melba Ketchum from Shelterwood Laboratories (DNA testing), Dr. Pam Fonti (Royal Canin Cat Diets), Dusty Rainbolt (Cat Wrangling Made Easy - maintaining peace & sanity in your multicat home), and Kathryn Sylvia (the America Bobtail). Grand Champion Wyndchymes Tess, a Mi-Ke Shorthair Japanese Bobtail, was named Best in Show at the CFA-Iams Cat Championship on Sunday, October 14, 2007. The show, held at Madison Square Garden, attracted over 300 pedigreed feline entries. The first runner-up was a Bluecream Persian, Grand Champion Astral Charm Give Me Kisses.     California AB 1634, proposing mandatory neuter/spay of all cats and dogs over the age of 6 months, was withdrawn by the author (Assembly Member Lloyd Levine) during a hearing of the Senate Committee on Local Government on July 11, 2007. We thank you all for your help and support! The bill will be reintroduced in January, 2008. Read our legislative alert for direction on what to do now. July, 2007

    PET FOOD RECALL IN THE U.S. AND CANADA - March 16, 2007 - Menu Foods Income Fund today announced the precautionary recall of a portion of the dog and cat food it manufactured between December 3, 2006 and March 6, 2007. The recall is limited to "cuts and gravy" style pet food in cans and pouches manufactured at two of the Fund's United States facilities.     The Cat Fanciers' Association supports the use of low-cost neuter/spay programs and recognizes the need to fund these programs in innovative ways. Several states now offer vanity automobile license plates as a source of money to increase awareness of neutering or spaying cats and dogs as well as to provide a pool of funds for low-cost or free neutering programs.
