Clerking Program Advancement - FAQ
Where do I start?
Attend a Clerking School (one of the requirements) and ask the show manager at an upcoming show if you may sit in with a chief ring clerk and assist at that show.
What do I do if I can't find a clerking school to attend?
Most candidates that require a clerking school contact authorized
instructors (Master Clerks, Master Clerk Instructors, or Judges) and make
arrangements to have a school put on at their convenience.

Why do I have to take a test to become a Licensed Clerk?
A test gives the program an opportunity to encourage the clerk to review
and remain competent with the requirements of the show rules and
procedures. It also provides the opportunity to refresh the listing of
current active clerks.
How many assignments are required to be licensed as a Certified Clerk?
The current requirements for a Certified Clerk license calls for the
candidate to complete 4 assistant ring clerk assignments and 8 assignments as Chief Ring Clerk to become licensed as a Certified
Clerk.
How long is a license good for?
A Clerk's license is valid for a period of current through September of
the next year in which testing is completed. Tests are administered in
the even number years during the period April through August.
